Bravo Burgundy Challenge

Black Magic

Welcome to another coloring down the lines challenge, bet you came straight from Carol’s Blog . . . I can’t wait to see what she did with this challenge!   Today we have Bravo Burgundy as the primary color and I picked the River Rock/Baja Breeze pair to accompany my Reason To Smile with a little “Black Magic” technique – the embossing is done with one of the Delicate Designs folders – run through three times.  Quick and simple  – except for the time for the craft whisper white ink to dry – but I just left if over night.  Next stop on the hop: Pam’s Blog – go see what she has whipped up this week!

Cherry Cobbler Challenge

Core’dinations Paper

Welcome to another Color Down the Lines challenge, thanks for poppin’ over from Carol’s blog – this one is with Cherry Cobbler and Espresso and Daffodil Delight.  I tried out some of my new goodies – yes those are the new ornament stamps and framelits.  I also used Days of Gratitude and the Very Vintage jumbo wheel with several different embossing powders.  I have mixed feelings about this card – I almost tore the whole thing apart and started over because I didn’t care for the final effect – but my good friend Sandy saw it in person and thought it was worthy – so helpful to have a friend to view your work!  Now it’s time to hope on over to Pam’s blog and see what she has going on today.

Cajun Craze Challenge

Cajun Craze

Glad you hopped over from Carol’s blog . . . lots of people at Convention this week – I’m at a conference for National Board Teacher Certification.  I chose to do the cajun craze challenge with baja breeze and old olive.  I struggled with this color combo – tried one in mds and REALLY did not like it!  Tried to do this with watercolor crayons but the image just wasn’t dark enough – guess I’ll use those on something else . . . so expect to see them in the near future, they just need different colors with them to look good.  I know in the photo it kind of looks red – but it really is cajun craze.  To make the flowers pop a bit I covered them with Crystal Effects, which doesn’t show in the pic either.  This card is made with the stamp set  Just Believe and the embossing folder Delicate Designs.  I added baja breeze seam binding and antique brads for the finishing touches.  Thanks for checking out our challenges today.  Next stop on the hop is Pam’s blog so go check out what colors she decided to work with.

In Color Challenge

Hybrid Card

The challenge over at Butternut Sage is to use 3 of the new in colors.  I had to ponder upon this, as I do not have the supplies yet.  And then it hit me – mds – I used Extreme elements and the in colors to make the leaves for the trees – I cased this from someone recently and cannot find their name to give credit to – they used fall colors.  I then used my actual stamp set Thoughts & Prayers to stamp the tree and sentiment in basic gray.  Sandy and Buffy chipped in and gave me some in-color cs yesterday – so it is mounted on midnight muse.  If the colors look a bit muted it’s because I set the opacity down some.  Check out all the projects using the in colors at Butternut Sage.

Brayer – Try Again

Waiting for a Sentiment

Yesterday my upline (Buffy) and my sideline (Sandy) got together for a craft day.  I wanted to work on my brayering skills again . . . I’m getting a little better, but still struggle with lines that I don’t want.  I am however please with the final result . . . and that’s what really matters in the end.  This was done on whisper white with So Saffron, Green Galore(R), and Brilliant Blue (R).  The ribbon is very old – I sure do wish they’d bring this kind back!  It’s all mounted on Very Vanilla cs and now is waiting for a sentiment.  I like keeping a few cards around that are ready for whatever purpose I need – just add a quick and appropriate saying and you’re reading to drop in the mail!  Image is by TH (grunge master – clue!).  Thanks for taking a peek.  [R=retired]

More Mustard Challenge

It’s Wednesday, so it must be another Color Down the Lines challenge and I’ll just bet you’ve been checking out Carol’s blog!  As some of you may recall, I got my colors mixed up -made a nice card – but it had Cajun Craze in it instead of Bravo Burgundy!  So,  take two – this time with Bravo Burgundy and Old Olive.  I got my new SU package yesterday and just had to try out some of my new things:  Hostess Set Four Seasons, So Sorry, Finishing Touches Edgelits, Delicate Doilies Sizzlits, punches, retired old olive ribbon.  Can’t wait to see what Pam has cookin’ over at her blog so jump on over to http://www.goldstarcreations.blogspot.com/.

21st Birthday

I really like the way this card turned out.  I fretted over which “masculine” kind of card to make this year – I used the sailboat last year – so I didn’t want to use another boat.  This is a combo of mds/artweaver and Patterned Party.  I used white embossing powder and then colored the flames with yellow sharpie.  Inside there are 21 candles running along the bottom of both pages!  Sentiment is from retired set On Your Birthday.  Happy Birthday is Curly Cute download on mds.  Colors are real read and pacific point.  Below is the inside.  Thanks for stopping by – today is supposed to be the hottest day of the heat wave, then tomorrow more potentially violent storms and a cool down.  Hope no more trees come down.  Some people, bless their souls, still are without power.
